Promotion of International Understanding on Issues Related to Thailand's Southern Border Provinces and Thai Muslim Students Abroad for 2026 (Iran) Project

On 25 - 29 November 2025, Mr. Pongprach Makchang, Ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led a delegation to visit Islamic Republic of Iran.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Yazdan Doost, Deputy Minister of Science in International Affairs, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) of Iran, and Mr. Hassan Nejad Pirkoohi, Director General of International Peace and Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran. Both sides exchanged views on the potential to expand collaboration between Thailand and Iran within the framework of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), of which Thailand is now a Permanent Observer. The Thai side provided an update on the situation in Thailand's Southern Border Provinces (SBPs) and the proactive policy of the Thai Government in promoting peace and development in the region.

In addition, the delegation paid courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Pichit Boonsud, Ambassador of Thailand to the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as met with a group of Thai students studying in Iran at the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran. The meeting provided an opportunity for the delegation to learn more about the students' well-being and also to exchange views on how to improve the students' skills and capabilities.
