Even higher prices and cuts to healthcare are hurting Iowa families and farmers
Today, JD Vance traveled to Iowa's 3rd Congressional District to peddle more of the same broken promises that he and Donald Trump have been making for more than a year, but Iowans aren't buying it. Iowa families and farmers are struggling to make ends meet because of high prices - especially on gas, diesel, and fertilizer - and cuts to healthcare that have unleashed a healthcare crisis across the state.
A reminder: Trump and Vance's Big Ugly Bill kicks 110,000 Iowans off their health care and puts multiple rural hospitals at risk of closure. Meanwhile, the average Iowa household has paid over $1,928 in additional costs because of Trump's inflation, and his war with Iran has caused gas, diesel, and fertilizer prices to spike, leaving farmers squeezed.
In response, DNC Communications Director Rosemary Boeglin released the following statement:
"Families and farmers in Iowa are being squeezed as prices on everything from groceries to gas to fertilizer remain high - and Iowans know who to blame. Despite their campaign promises to lower costs on 'Day One,' Donald Trump and JD Vance pushed prices even higher with their reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran. To make matters worse, they cut healthcare and food assistance that Iowans rely on. Vance can try to spin their record all he wants, but Iowans aren't buying it. They're ready to toss Republicans' failed agenda to the curb."
