E-tagging makes reporting salmon and steelhead harvests faster, easier, and more accurate. By using the salmon and steelhead e-tagging option on the IDFG Go Outdoors Idaho app, anglers help provide the best possible data to support sustainable fisheries for everyone. "When anglers use E-Tagging, the fishery can be managed more precisely, helping anglers harvest more of the allowed harvest share," said Don Whitney, Fisheries Biologist at IDFG.
Why use e-tagging:
Important: Downloading the app isn't enough, you must sync it before heading to the river. Syncing updates your e-tag and ensures your harvest is reported correctly while you're fishing.
Get started with e-tagging:
Anglers with a current paper permit cannot switch to e-tagging for the 2026 season, but will have the option in 2027.
