(Marysvale, Utah, October 15, 2026) - U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Utah State Director Stan Summers today announced the agency is awarding $4.7 million for the town of Marysvale to upgrade its water system and invest in fire response equipment.
"Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins and the Trump Administration are highly focused on supporting rural communities and investing in reliable water supplies and equipment, which are essential to the health, safety, and future of rural communities," said Summers. "This investment will help Marysvale address critical system needs, strengthen its ability to respond to emergencies, and support continued growth for generations."
The town's culinary water distribution system is antiquated with undersized piping throughout and lacks an adequate water supply. USDA Rural Development is investing a $3,500,000 grant and $1,170,000 loan to address critical deficiencies in fire protection, system reliability, and source capacity by redeveloping a source spring, replacing pressure-reducing valves, and installing upgraded transmission and distribution piping. These improvements will expand fire flow compliance from just 5% of the system to 65% and ensure reliable water delivery even during peak demand or emergency conditions. Once completed, the project will secure a resilient, compliant, and future-ready water supply for all residents.
USDA is supplying Marysvale an additional $46,800 grant to equip the recently completed fire station with tools and equipment required for emergency response including hoses, wildland tools, safety gear, trauma kits, and other critical items. With these additions, the new fire station is fully functional and capable of supporting the community's firefighting and emergency response needs.
Water project funding is provided through USDA Rural Development's Water and Environmental Programs . Through USDA's Rural Utilities Service, the Water and Environmental Programs help rural communities obtain the technical assistance and financing necessary to develop drinking water and waste disposal systems. Funding for fire fighting equipment is provided through USDA Rural Development's Community Facilities Programs, which offer affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas.
