Chicago Street Corridor Progress Update

Work that has been addressed through Saturday, August 16th:

  • Masonry work on all the City Square structures will be nearing completion
  • Sidewalk replacement work on the north side of Clinton Street, at Chicago, is now complete, and those sidewalks are again open to pedestrians
  • Concrete driveway replacement work for the entry to the Ottawa Street Parking Deck will be performed Saturday, requiring closure of the deck until Monday, August 18th

Work that will be addressed the week of August 18th:

  • The entrance to the Ottawa Street parking Deck will be opened Monday morning
  • Com Ed will be installing the power cables to the new transformer on Ottawa Street, that will ultimately be providing power to the various new City Square elements
  • Electrical work installing conduits and components within the City Square will continue
  • The concrete base for the new brick paver alley pavement adjacent to the Ottawa Street Parking Garage will be placed
  • Work on the soil cells and planter boxes in front of the Library will continue
  • Parking remains restricted to drop offs and deliveries only, for the northbound lanes of traffic on Chicago Street in front of the Rialto Theatre

Masonry work on the north water fountain feature is nearing completion, with adjacent shade structure complete
