On December 11, 2025, shortly before 10:45 p.m., East District General Patrol officers arrested a man near Isle des Chênes after he led them on a traffic pursuit outside city limits.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m., the WPS was informed that a distressed 44-year-old man was driving a 1993 Ford Aerostar erratically in various Transcona parking lots and was headed out of city limits. Additionally, officers learned he had made concerning comments regarding his own safety and that of others.

At 10:20 p.m., officers observed the Aerostar traveling south bound at Lagimodière Boulevard and Elizabeth Road. Officers attempting to stop the Aerostar at the Perimeter Highway overpass, however, the driver refused to stop and continued southbound.

During an attempted forcible stop near Leclaire Road and south bound Highway 59, the driver of the Aerostar rammed two police vehicles, causing one to slide into the ditch and rendering it inoperable. The damaged Aerostar continued to flee from police but was stopped shortly after near Isle des Chênes where the man was taken into custody.

Two officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision during the pursuit.

The 44-year-old faces the following charges:

  • Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon x 4
  • Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm

He was detained in police custody awaiting further disposition.
