On September 12, the Chinese Embassy in Namibia held a reception to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Namibia, and the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which was attended by over 300 guests, including Hon. Jenelly Matundu, Deputy Minister of Ministry of International Relations and Trade, Hon. Dr. Charles Mubita, Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Hon. Cde. Sophia Shaningwa, Secretary General of the SWAPO Party, and various government officials as well as friends from all walks of life, the diplomatic corps and representatives of the Chinese community in Namibia.
In his speech, Ambassador Zhao Weiping spoke highly of the fruitful achievements of China-Namibia relations, emphasizing that the two countries are good friends and partners who can trust each other and the Chinese side is ready to work with Namibia to continuously elevate bilateral relations to new heights. Amb. Zhao also touched on the great achievements of Chinese modernization and the Global Governance Initiative recently proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, stating that China will continue to play an important role in promoting peace, stability, and development of the world.
Honorable Deputy Minister Matundu delivered a statement of Hon. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, Minister of International Relations and Trade, congratulating the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Minister Musavyi said in the statement that the friendship between Namibia and China is deeply rooted in solidarity, mutual respect and shared aspirations. Namibia remains committed to work with China to continuously advance the Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.
