Representative Tran Presents $850,000 to Buena Park Library District for Facility and Infrastructure Upgrades

Buena Park, CA - U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) presented $850,000 in federal funding to the Buena Park Library to revitalize facilities and key infrastructure. He was joined by Buena Park Library Director Helen Medina, Board President Brenda Estrada, and Board President Pro Tempore Richard Rams.

"I'm so proud to bring $850,000 back to Orange County to make the Buena Park Library a more comfortable, welcoming environment for all our families," said Representative Tran. "This investment makes community anchors like our libraries more accessible for all our neighbors and keeps our tax dollars working for Orange County. I'll keep fighting in Congress to secure the federal resources our cities deserve."

"This $850,000 investment is deeply meaningful for our community and will help us create safer, more inspiring spaces for everyone who depends on the library. Children, families, students, older adults, and lifelong learners will all benefit from these vital improvements, strengthening both our library and our community today and ensuring the library remains a vibrant resource for years to come," said Helen Medina, Buena Park Library Director.

The federal Community Project Funding Representative Tran secured for the Buena Park Library District will directly support upgrades to key infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, creating a better work environment for library staff and patrons. This funding is part of an over $14 million packageRepresentative Tran is bringing back to LA and Orange Counties across 15 community projects that will make life safer, healthier, and easier for Southern California residents.

Through Community Project Funding (CPF), Members of Congress can request direct funding for specific local projects that benefit the communities they represent. The House Appropriations Committee considers up to 15 Community Project Funding requests from each member of Congress, and, once approved by the House and Senate and signed into law by the President, community projects are funded using federal tax revenue. Community Project Funding is subject to strict public transparency and accountability requirements, only available to nonprofit and government entities (for-profit grantees are not eligible), and must demonstrate evidence of compelling community support. In addition, each Member of Congress must certify in writing that there is no financial interest in the project for them and their immediate family. All projects will be audited by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to ensure sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
