The Pacific Northwest is attracting large data centers, raising important questions about their effects on energy demand, water consumption, and climate resilience.

This quarter, students in the Environmental Impact Assessment capstone class at WWU on the Peninsulas examined three proposed regional data centers and analyzed their potential environmental impacts. Their final presentations will take place on Monday, March 9, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Olympic College's Poulsbo campus and on Zoom. All members of WWU and the community are welcome to attend.

Environmental Impact Assessment (Environmental Studies 493) is a senior capstone in which students conduct assessments of proposed development projects, following National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) guidelines. These laws require environmental evaluation of government-permitted projects.
