Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has appointed Amanda Duval Norwood as its new Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources, bringing to campus a nationally experienced HR leader known for building employee-centered workplace cultures and advancing organizational excellence across higher education.
Norwood arrives at SIUE with more than two decades of leadership experience spanning higher education, healthcare and senior living industries. Most recently, she served as Chief Human Resources Officer at Harper College, where she led strategic initiatives in workforce planning, labor relations, employee engagement, compliance, and organizational development.
Her professional journey also includes leadership roles at Alma College, Marian University, Upper Iowa University, and Sam Houston State University, where she developed a reputation for collaborative leadership and innovative approaches to employee support and institutional growth.

Norwood earned a Master of Business Administration from Grantham University and a bachelor's degree in business management from National Louis University. She also holds Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certifications.
Norwood's arrival signals SIUE's continued investment in cultivating a workplace culture focused on collaboration, openness to modernization, belonging, and long-term success.
Her leadership is expected to play a key role in strengthening employee engagement initiatives while supporting SIUE's broader mission of serving students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding region through innovation and inclusive excellence.
