The Learning Center, which officially opened its doors on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, is the kind of place you walk into and say, "Wow!'
This 2,372-square-foot functional learning center is a living example of why recycling and reuse make sense. Almost everything in here used to be something else. We are delighted that in the coming years this center will be a place where everyone can learn why saving space at the landfill is critically important and why it's just smart for all of us to be frugal with our valuable resources. Adults, school classes, civic groups, homeschoolers, scout troops, and anyone else who sets up a tour will learn why little things make a big difference.
Thank you to Ada County Commission Chairman Rod Beck, Commissioner Ryan Davidson, and Commissioner Tom Dayley for your support. We are grateful to Ada County Landfill Director Herb Cantu and Education and Outreach Manager Rebecca Weeks. By combining top-tier landfill management with impactful, accessible education, you are not just managing waste; you are teaching us all how to live better. Thank you for creating a greener, more informed community.
