New Park Playground To Officially Open

Playground Completes Renovation Of Police Memorial Park

Ward 4 Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske will cut the ribbon on a new playground at Police Memorial Park, 3250 Metro Academy Way, Friday, Dec. 19, at 3:30 p.m. The new playground completes the recent renovation of the park.

The playground was made possible by a donation from Lennar Homes and is the newest amenity at the park that includes pickleball courts, a dog park, walking paths and a skatepark. The park also is home to the Southern Nevada Police Memorial.

The park first opened in 2001, and the renovation added four additional pickleball courts, bringing the total number of courts at the park to eight. Parking lots were improved, two playgrounds, including the one donated by Lennar, were added and a new canine memorial statue was unveiled.

JNJ Engineering Construction, Inc. was the construction contractor for the project. The budget for the upgrades was $4 million, with funds provided by the city of Las Vegs general fund and donations.
