HENDERSON, Nev.(April 6, 2026) - The City of Henderson Animal Protection Services (APS) is proud to announce that eight adoptable cats and three dogs were transported this morning to the Salt Lake City area, where rescue partners will place them into loving, permanent homes.
The lifesaving transport was made possible through APS's continued collaboration with Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, UT. The City recently formalized a five-year animal rescue transfer agreement with the organization, strengthening Henderson's ability to connect adoptable animals with communities that have both capacity and demand, helping more animals find homes faster.
Today's flight was provided by Dog Is My CoPilot, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transporting at-risk animals from shelters to adoption partners across the country. Upon arrival in Utah, local rescue organizations will continue the adoption process, ensuring each animal receives the care and placement they deserve.
"This transport reflects our commitment to local and regional partnerships and compassionate care for the welfare of our animals,"said City of Henderson Animal Protection Administrator, Danielle Harney. "By working together with trusted organizations, we're able to expand opportunities for animals in our care and support positive outcomes for our community."APS also extends its sincere gratitude to the many volunteers and individual donors who helped make this effort possible. Community members generously donated safe, airline-approved animal crates, ensuring the animals traveled comfortably and securely.
The City of Henderson remains committed to advancing animal welfare through local and regional collaboration, responsible pet ownership, and ongoing community engagement.
