Illinois Post Forms Auxiliary

In South Beloit, Illihnois, VFW Post 11019's Auxiliary Charter Organizational Meeting on Sept. 30, brought together prospective members and supporters from across District 6.

The meeting followed a unanimous vote by Post members on Aug. 18 authorizing the formation of an Auxiliary. Since that vote, Post leaders have been working with VFW Auxiliary leadership, submitting supporting documentation and preparing to recruit the eligible applicants needed to receive a charter.

The organizing effort represents another step in Post 11019's continued growth and community involvement. Post members have supported veterans, participated in patriotic observances, conducted membership outreach, organized community events and worked with other VFW Posts throughout Illinois District 6.

District 6 Auxiliary President Tinia Kulavic and past District Auxiliary President Beth Bland attended the charter meeting and greeted several candidates. Men and women submitted applications to join the Auxiliary while sharing stories about the veterans whose service made them eligible.

Members from across the district also stopped by to assist with the organizing effort.

At the Post's Oct. 19 meeting, it was announced that the Auxiliary charter application had been submitted, Furthermore, the membership applications exceeded the minimum necessary to establish the Auxiliary.

The development represents an important milestone for the Post as it works toward expanding its ability to support veterans, military families and the surrounding community.
