From June 9 through June 13, 2025, the City of Santa Fe's Public Works Department launched its annual Pothole Palooza, a concentrated, citywide effort to repair potholes and improve driving conditions for residents and visitors alike.
This year's initiative marked a shift to a one-week format, down from the traditional two-week schedule, to better balance resources while maintaining impactful results. All Streets Division staff were dedicated to the effort full-time, including working overtime to maximize coverage and efficiency.
The timing of the Palooza was especially important this year. Recent rainfall had worsened road damage, as water seeped into cracks and undermined the pavement, accelerating pothole formation. In response, crews prioritized high-need areas to ensure timely repairs and minimize long-term deterioration.
Last year's effort repaired more than 1,000 potholes, and although this year's campaign was shorter, the team focused on high-impact outcomes. Key streets that received maintenance included:
