Palm Beach County (PBC) is partnering with six county municipalities to complete their Flood and Sea Level Rise Risk Assessments. Upcoming public meetings will offer residents important updates on the progress of this vital initiative, which evaluates climate-related risks to critical infrastructure and key community assets within each municipality.
The purpose of these meetings will be to explain the project's goals and outcomes and facilitate community conversation and feedback. Community members are encouraged to share their insights and concerns regarding climate risks in their neighborhoods. The project team is working with Tetra Tech to produce Flood and Sea Level Rise Risk Assessment reports that will make the municipalities eligible for infrastructure implementation grants, including those from the Resilient Florida Grant Program, which awarded over $1.5 billion in grants across the state over the last three years.
"The county is taking action to address flooding and sea level rise as part of our broader climate resilience efforts," said Palm Beach County Chief Resilience Officer Megan Houston. "This project moves us forward in making sure all our residents are prepared and supported as our environment changes."
The first round of community workshops will begin on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and will run through Thursday, April 24, 2025, across the six municipalities: Village of Golf, Town of Hypoluxo, Village of Palm Springs, Town of Cloud Lake, Town of Glen Ridge and Town of Haverhill.
