Every Portlander deserves to make it home safely at the end of the day, and every traffic death is preventable," said Councilor Koyama Lane. "This resolution is about more than transportation projects - it's about protecting lives, especially our kids, our elders, and the communities who have been most impacted by traffic violence. By breaking down silos and bringing every City bureau to the table, we can build a future where safe streets are the rule, not the exception."
Key Elements of the Resolution:
"The energy and passion of our community are what make this work possible," said Councilor Koyama Lane. "Seeing students, families, and neighbors come together to celebrate safe streets reminds us why this commitment matters - and why we must act with urgency to save lives."
