The next regular Yuma City Council meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
Here are some of the items scheduled to be presented to City Council for consideration:
Avenue 9E Bridge and Road Widening Project
Council will consider authorizing an engineering design services contract for the Avenue 9E Bridge and Road Widening Project. The project would address roadway and bridge conditions while expanding the roadway from two to four lanes and adding bicycle, pedestrian, drainage, and railroad crossing safety improvements.
Yuma Road Safety Action Plan
A resolution adopting the August 2026 Yuma Road Safety Action Plan will be presented to Council. The plan provides a data-driven framework for reducing crashes and identifies strategies and priority projects to improve roadway safety. Adoption establishes a strategic guide and does not authorize construction or commit funding for individual projects.
2026 Emergency Operations Plan
An updated City of Yuma Emergency Operations Plan is scheduled for Council consideration. The 2026 plan would replace the previous plan and establish the City's current framework for emergency preparedness, response, recovery, mitigation, continuity of government, and coordination with partner agencies.
Legal Action Regarding Proposed Colorado River Water Transfer
Council will consider authorizing the City to join Mohave, La Paz, and Yuma counties in further legal action related to a proposed permanent transfer of Colorado River water from La Paz County to the Town of Queen Creek. The action would seek enforcement of a 2024 federal court ruling requiring additional environmental review of the proposed transfer.
Sewer Main Lining at Madison and Giss Parkway
A cooperative purchase agreement for sewer main lining at Madison and Giss Parkway will be presented to Council for authorization. The project would use a trenchless lining process to rehabilitate existing sewer mains, extending their service life and reducing the risk of leaks while limiting surface disruption.
