Downtown street cleaning set for Friday, April 3; avoid a tow

The City of Iowa City Streets division will conduct street cleaning in the Downtown District beginning at 2 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026. Vehicles parked in areas that do not allow parking between 2 and 6 a.m. will be towed.

Towing will impact Prentiss Street to Market Street, Madison Street to Gilbert Street, North Clinton Street from Market Street to Church Street, and the 600 and 700 Blocks of South Dubuque Street.

Vehicles can be moved to a Downtown Parking ramp, or to on-street parking spaces outside of the area. Be sure to follow all posted signs.

If your vehicle is towed, you will need to come to the Iowa City Police Department, 410 E. Washington St., with a photo ID, payment for parking fines and any outstanding parking fees. A description of your vehicle and plate number is recommended. Credit cards are accepted. Towing fees will need to be settled with Holiday Wrecker and Crane after your vehicle is released by ICPD. You may contact ICPD at 319-356-5275. Do not call 911 if your vehicle has been towed.
