WHAT: The Village of Fox Lake invites the public to Art in the Garden, a vibrant May Day celebration showcasing the work of Grant Community High School art students. Held at the Garden Green, this free, family-friendly event will include hands-on art activities with 143 Plus More Creative Art, a live pottery demonstration by Blazin' Ceramics, and food offerings from Mindful Roots and KiKi's Cotton Candy. The celebration is hosted by the Village of Fox Lake Parks and Recreation Department.
"Events like Art in the Garden help us shine a light on the incredible young talent in our community," said Mayor Donny Schmit. "Art has the power to bring people together, and this event is a perfect example of how public spaces can be used to foster connection, expression, and joy."
"Seeing our students' work displayed in such a beautiful, public setting is incredibly meaningful," said Aubrey Wray, Art Honors Advisor at Grant Community High School. "This event gives them not only a platform, but also a real sense of pride and place in the community."
"Having my artwork displayed here is meaningful to me because I love contributing to the Fox Lake community by bringing joy and connection through art," said Kayli Brook, a sophomore art student at Grant Community High School. "It's a chance to share my vision and creativity to others who might be looking for something to brighten their day."

About the Village of Fox Lake: The Village of Fox Lake (population 10,978) is located 55 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and 20 miles west of Waukegan, Illinois. Fox Lake is located in Lake and McHenry counties. The Village is located on the South Shore of Pistakee Lake, Nippersink Lake, and Fox Lake, three connected water bodies that form part of the Chain O'Lakes system. The Village of Fox Lake has a total area of 9.942 square miles of which around 20% is water.
