Mayoral Proclamation - United to End Homelessness 04.15.25

The City of Fargo and surrounding metro stands together in a united effort to end homelessness.

WHEREAS, homelessness is a critical issue affecting individuals and families across our region, with far-reaching impacts on health, safety and economic stability; and

WHEREAS, the cities of Fargo, West Fargo, Horace, Moorhead and Dilworth and counties of Cass and Clay recognize the fundamental need for coordinated and comprehensive approaches to addressing homelessness in our communities; and

WHEREAS, local service providers, community organizations and government agencies have long been dedicated to addressing homelessness, yet there remains a need for enhanced collaboration and strategic alignment to ensure the most effective and lasting solutions; and

WHEREAS, ending homelessness means making it rare, brief and one-time by preventing homelessness whenever possible and ensuring that when homelessness does occur, it is quickly resolved with permanent housing solutions; and

WHEREAS, leaders from Fargo, West Fargo, Horace, Moorhead, Dilworth, Cass County and Clay County are committed to fostering regional cooperation and ensuring homelessness is addressed with urgency, compassion and evidence-based strategies; and

WHEREAS, the establishment of the Cass Clay Interagency Council on Homelessness, led by United Way of Cass-Clay and the FM Coalition to End Homelessness, will bring together local governments, service providers and advocates to drive solutions, align resources and implement strategies that prevent and end homelessness in our region.

NOW, THEREFORE, we do hereby proclaim our commitment to addressing homelessness as a regional priority and encourage residents, organizations and leaders to join in this effort to ensure everyone in our communities have a safe and stable place to call home.
