Good afternoon. Let me start today's briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun will have a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation of Belgium Maxime Prévot on the afternoon of Thursday, September 18.

This meeting will be Minister Cho'sfirst bilateral meeting with a European country since he took office, and the visit marks the first bilateral visit to Korea by a Belgian Foreign Minister in 14 years.

Belgium, which participated in the Korean War, is Korea's 7th-largest trading partner among the 27 EU member states. The two countries will mark the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.

In the forthcoming meeting, the two sides will discuss ways to renew cooperation in future-oriented industries and will seek to make their 125th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year an opportunity to further bolster the friendship between the two countries.
