The news that the Bambino Gesù paediatric hospital has been placed among the very top of the 'World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2026' ranking, compiled by the weekly magazine Newsweek in collaboration with research company Statista, fills us with pride and is a testament to the quality of our healthcare. This level of quality is also confirmed by the fact that no fewer than 41 Italian facilities rank among the best specialised centres globally, including the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome (third place for gynaecology) and, in Milan, both the European Institute of Oncology and the National Cancer Institute.
Considering also the four Italian paediatric hospitals that are among the top 50 in the world (the others are: Istituto Giannina Gaslini in Genoa; Ospedale dei Bambini Vittore Buzzi - ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco in Milan; A.S.T. Azienda Sanitaria Territoriale Pesaro Urbino), the ranking particularly recognises a fully comprehensive model of care, which combines medical, clinical and scientific professionalism with a special kind of empathy and a deep human connection. In 2024, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers signed a declaration of intent that indeed acknowledged the Bambino Gesù hospital's level of absolute excellence in the field of paediatric healthcare and biomedical research at both national and international level.
