The St. Hyacinth Medal is meant to honor those who have especially contributed to their province's mission. Stump was cited for generously offering various forms of formation to members of the Dominican family in Poland and beyond for many years.
"This honor by the Dominican order sheds light on an important dimension of Dr. Stump's work," said Scott Ragland, Ph.D., chair of the philosophy department. "Over her long career, she has not only advanced the Catholic intellectual tradition through her own research, but also has devoted countless hours to the training of priests and other religious as part of her teaching vocation."
Stump is a leading expert in philosophy of religion, contemporary metaphysics, and medieval philosophy. She gave the 2026 commencement address for Aquinas and is a member of the Aquinas 1925 Society.
The Prior Provincial of the Province of Poland, Fr. Łukasz Wiśniewski, OP, will be present to confer the medal, as will their former Regent of Studies, Fr. Dominik Jarczewski, OP. A ceremony will be held at Aquinas, including a lecture by Stump and the conferral of the medal, followed by a brief reception.
