Chinese Embassy in Australia Hosts the 2026 Spring Festival Reception

On February 11, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in Australia hosted a Spring Festival reception at the Embassy. Ambassador Xiao Qian attended the event, celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Horse with more than 100 guests from the Chinese community in Australia, including Wu Penghui, President of the Federation of Chinese Associations of the ACT.

In his remarks, Ambassador Xiao extended sincere Chinese New Year greetings to the Chinese community in Australia, including those in Canberra, and reviewed the remarkable achievements of Chinese modernization over the past year. He noted that China-Australia relations are currently on a steady and progressive trend, and the Chinese side is willing to work with the Australian side, guided by the strategic consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, to advance the China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership in a steady fashion. Ambassador Xiao also highly commended the unique role played by the Chinese community in Australia in promoting China-Australia friendship and expressed his expectation that they would continue to contribute to China-Australia friendship.

Amid the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, the guests participated in interactive activities such as "Welcoming Spring with Calligraphy and Painting. Best wishes for Every Family." Artists from the Chinese community, together with Embassy diplomats presented wonderful performances including ethnic songs and dances, erhu ensembles, and magic shows.
