The 35th Session of the General Assembly of the International Social Security Association (ISSA), held during the World Social Security Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has adopted important amendments to the ISSA Constitution to strengthen the resilience and efficiency of the governance of the Association.
Drawing on lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and advances in digital technology, the amended Constitution now allows ISSA's statutory bodies to hold virtual meetings and make decisions electronically when needed. Further amendments introduced clarifications as regards the procedure for the renewal process of the ISSA Secretary General and the introduction of delegation of votes at the ISSA Bureau meetings.
The revised Constitution enters into force immediately, as of 30 September 2025. The amendments reflect the ISSA's commitment to modern, transparent, and resilient governance.
In addition, the General Assembly received a report by the Secretary General on the activities of the Association during the triennium 2023-2025, highlighting the important achievements of the ISSA community during this term.
