Celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, in Cary

  • Celebrate the 26th annual Hum Sub Diwali festival on Saturday, Oct. 10, beginning at 9 a.m. at Koka Booth Amphitheatre.
  • Downtown Cary Park will host its Diwali Celebration on Monday, Oct. 26, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Great Lawn Pavilion.
  • Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is one of the most widely celebrated religious and cultural festivals in India.

CARY, NC - Enjoy the sights, sounds, and traditions of India as Cary welcomes the community to the 26th annual Hum Sub Diwali festival on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Koka Booth Amphitheatre. The celebration is free to the public, and the gates open at 9 a.m.

Festivalgoers will enjoy musical performances by Indian American singer, songwriter, and YouTube star Vidya Vox, singer Rohith Jayaraman, and a live band. The celebration will also feature a special tribute to singer and cultural icon Asha Tai, along with dance, food, art, and cultural experiences for all ages. The day will conclude with fireworks over Symphony Lake at 8:45 p.m.

Cary's Diwali celebration is presented by Hum Sub, Inc. in partnership with the Town of Cary. Hum Sub is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sharing India's social and cultural traditions with communities throughout the Triangle.

The celebration continues later in the month at the Diwali Celebration at Downtown Cary Park on Monday, Oct. 26, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Great Lawn Pavilion. This free, family-friendly event will bring the community together for an evening of music, dance, community, and culture as we celebrate the spirit of the Festival of Lights. The evening will feature cultural performances and music by DJ Rang.

Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most widely celebrated religious and cultural festivals in India. The holiday symbolizes the victory of good over evil and light over darkness and is a time for celebration and new beginnings. Communities also celebrate with fireworks, sparklers, and festive gatherings.
