On June 26-27, 2026, as part of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov to the Republic of Croatia, a series of high-level meetings, negotiations, and important events took place.
During the visit, negotiations were held with Gordan Grlić Radman, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, in both tête-à-tête and expanded formats. The parties exchanged views in depth on prospects for further expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Croatia in the political, trade and economic, investment, transport and logistics, energy, tourism, and other fields. They also underscored the importance of establishing a mechanism for regular political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, further strengthening the legal and treaty framework, establishing an Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, and enhancing contacts between the business communities. Following the negotiations, the Cooperation Programme between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia for 2027-2028 was signed.
The Foreign Minister also participated in the Dubrovnik Forum and delivered a keynote address at a panel session dedicated to energy security. This year's Forum was of particular significance as it was held under the theme "The Age of Multipolarity: Many Directions, One Future." Discussions focused on such pressing issues as energy security, competition for critical raw materials, climate change, and the impact of artificial intelligence on global development.
During the visit, a meeting was also held with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Khulaifi, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. The parties discussed prospects for further advancing Uzbekistan-Qatar relations, translating the agreements reached into practical outcomes, promoting mutually beneficial projects, and maintaining close dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
In addition, during a meeting with Tone Kajzer, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, the parties discussed the practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level, expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, and strengthening intergovernmental, business, humanitarian, and tourism ties.
Bakhtiyor Saidov also met with Maka Botchorishvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The parties exchanged views on the agenda of upcoming high-level engagements and the priority areas of bilateral relations, reaffirming their readiness to continue cooperation across all areas.
At the conclusion of the visit, a meeting was held with Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković. At the outset of the meeting, the warm greetings and best wishes of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev were conveyed. The parties exchanged views on enhancing political dialogue, expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, advancing partnership in transport and logistics, as well as on current regional issues and other matters on the international agenda.
