Another IAF MI-17V5 Helicopter Arrives in Sri Lanka to Support Ongoing Recovery Efforts

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) confirms that another Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17V5 helicopter arrived yesterday (09 December 2025) to bolster ongoing disaster recovery efforts.

Captained by Wing Commander Nagesh Kumar, the aircraft delivered an 11-member team and essential Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) materials.

This deployment strengthens the collaborative efforts between the SLAF and the IAF in assisting communities impacted by the disaster. The contingent was received at SLAF Base Katunayake by SLAF officials and representatives from the Indian High Commission.
