Mariniers krijgen nieuwe patrouillevoertuigen

Defensie heeft 150 breed inzetbare patrouillevoertuigen besteld voor het Korps Mariniers. Het contract wordt eind juni officieel ondertekend. Het gaat om een variant van de Joint Light Tactical Vehicle(JLTV) van de Amerikaanse fabrikant Oshkosh. Die levert ze naar verwachting in 2028.

De JLTV is ongepantserd en betrouwbaar. Het kan dienst doen tijdens operaties op de meest uitdagende terreinen en bij uiteenlopende klimaatomstandigheden. Met Oshkoshwordt ook een onderhoudscontract afgesloten.

Het Korps Mariniers is verheugd over de aankoop. Het voertuig is bovendien al in grote getalen geproduceerd en aan meerdere NAVO-landen geleverd. Dat draagt bij aan interoperabiliteit en daarmee aan operationele inzetbaarheid.
