New report on the benefits for the Sahrawi people
Question for written answer E-003711/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Lynn Boylan (The Left)
The last Commission report on the benefits for the Sahrawi people regarding the extension of tariff preferences to products originating from Western Sahara was published in January 2023 and contained data on exports from the territory up to September 2022.
Despite the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) to maintain the effects of the 2018 agreement during a 12-month transitional period, the Commission has not published any updated reports. By comparison, following the judgment in Case T-279/19, it continued to provide updated data.
-
1.Can the Commission explain why no new report has been issued since 2023, and in particular whether this is due to Morocco's refusal to provide the relevant data despite Decision No 1/2020 of the EU-Kingdom of Morocco Association Committee of 16 March 2020[1] on the exchange of information under the 2018 agreement?
-
2.Can the Commission confirm that it has access to updated and reliable data on exports from Western Sahara and that it will publish this information, given the need to address the CJEU's rulings?
-
3.If not, does the Commission intend to proceed by extrapolation based on the reports for 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022?
