Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Evgeny Shestakov pays working visit to Brazil

On 15-16 September 2026, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Evgeny Shestakov, paid a working visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil.

As part of the visit, the fourth round of Belarusian-Brazilian inter-ministerial consultations took place. The Brazilian delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Abdalla.

Both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral political dialogue and the prospects for its revitalisation, outlining a schedule of joint diplomatic events between the two ministries.

The participants in the consultations devoted particular attention to advancing bilateral trade and economic co-operation. In this context, both sides expressed mutual interest in increasing trade volumes, diversifying export and import flows, and expanding collaborative ties across agriculture, manufacturing, and investment. They likewise concurred on the necessity of resuming the work of the Joint Belarusian-Brazilian Commission on Economic Co-operation.

The parties addressed matters concerning Belarusian-Brazilian co-operation and mutual support within multilateral fora, principally the United Nations and BRICS. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue and collectively upholding the principles of a multipolar world order and the primacy of international law.

During his visit to Brazil, the deputy head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry also held a series of meetings with representatives of the Brazilian executive authorities, the business community, and the media.

In discussions with the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services of Brazil, Rodrigo Zerbone Loureiro, the interlocutors examined the most promising avenues for developing bilateral co-operation in the trade, economic, scientific, and technological fields.

During a meeting with a Vice-President of the National Confederation of Industry of Brazil, Jamal Bittar, the sides explored concrete measures to enhance industrial co-operation, including the implementation of joint projects for the production of tractors and other agricultural machinery, as well as opportunities for partnership in the mining, petrochemical, and information technology sectors.
