City council meeting preview for Tuesday, June 9

A Fort Worth City Council meeting will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 100 Fort Worth Trail.

Councilmembers will vote on multiple agenda items at the meeting, including:

  • A $100 million economic development agreement with Austin-based Seco Ventures to support construction of a new multifamily property on the corner of North Main Street and Northeast Fourth Street in Council District 2. The project is expected to include a 12-story apartment tower with ground-floor retail and could become the first major private development on Panther Island.
  • A 10-year management agreement for the Will Rogers Memorial Center, along with funding associated with the transition of employees and operations to a new management structure.
  • Adopting Fort Worth's new Master Transportation Plan, which will serve as the City's blueprint for future transportation investments and policies.
  • Beginning the process to issue up to $104 million in certificates of obligation to fund street, facility and infrastructure improvements across Fort Worth.
  • Amendments totaling more than $9.7 million to the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD) budget to support a variety of public safety initiatives and programs aimed at crime prevention, law enforcement and community safety efforts across Fort Worth.
  • Several items tied to FIFA World Cup preparations, including public safety grant funding and parking-related accommodations for an estimated five-week event period downtown.
  • Up to $25 million through the federal Safe Streets for All program for safety, technology and operational improvements along the East Berry Street corridor from Interstate 35 to Miller Avenue.
  • Several major transportation projects, including a $35.4 million contract for the McCart Avenue and McPherson Boulevard project and a $22.3 million contract for Bonds Ranch Road widening improvements.
  • A resolution authorizing the City to apply for up to $55 million from the Texas Water Development Board to support water infrastructure improvements.
  • Appointing new District 10 Councilmember Chris Jamieson to several boards and organizations, including the Fort Worth Housing Finance Corporation, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones and FW Sports Authority.
  • Councilmembers will also vote on 18 zoning cases.

  • Recognition celebrating 100 years of life of Opal Lee
  • Recognition to the Lake Como Neighborhood Advisory Council for excellence in community leadership and three consecutive neighborhood of the year awards
  • Recognition celebrating 50 years of Hip Pocket Theatre
  • Recognition for the Osprey Bass 35th Annual Youth Fishing Festival
  • Recognition for the Shopify Merchant Milestone Celebration
  • Recognition to Dr. Gwendolyn Morrison

Residents may speak during the public comment portion of the agenda. Per Council Rules of Procedure:

  • Individual presentations are limited to three minutes.
  • Group presentations are limited to six minutes.
  • Time limits may be adjusted at the mayor's discretion.
