Chinese premier meets Malaysian PM
HANGZHOU, Sept. 24 -- Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Thursday met with Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim in Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang in east China.
Noting that the Chinese President's state visit to Malaysia in April last year has ushered bilateral relations into a new "Golden 50 Years," Li said that maintaining close communication and sound collaboration adds certainty to the common development of the two countries.
China is willing to work with Malaysia to promote the in-depth and substantive development of a high-level strategic community with a shared future to better benefit the people of both countries, Li said.
Li noted that China is willing to further leverage complementary economic advantages with Malaysia, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, focus on mega infrastructure projects such as the East Coast Rail Link, increase market connection and connectivity, improve trade between the two countries, deepen cooperation in emerging industries and strive to achieve a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win results.
Anwar, who has attended the opening ceremonies of the WorldSkills Competition and the Global Digital Trade Expo in China, said Malaysia attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with China, firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and deepen practical cooperation in areas such as infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
Anwar expressed Malaysia's support for China's proposition of strengthening the governance of artificial intelligence, and highly commended China's role in promoting the improvement of global governance, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South, and promoting common prosperity of all countries as a responsible major country.
Malaysia is willing to join hands with China to make greater contributions to regional and world peace and development, Anwar said.
