Chinese Consul General in Auckland Chen Shijie Attends China (Shandong)–New Zealand Agricultural Cooperation and Exchange Conference

On 10 Jun, Consul General Chen Shijie attended China (Shandong)-New Zealand Agricultural Cooperation and Exchange Conference in Hamilton. Mr. Geoff Taylor, Deputy Mayor of the city, Mr. Sun Yusheng, Director of Shandong Agricultural Technology Extension Center, and over 100 business representatives from both countries attended the event.

In his speech, Chen introduced China's 15th Five-Year Plan, stating that China's high-quality development will create broader prospects for agricultural cooperation between the two countries. He stated that Shandong is the first province in China to achieve a total agricultural output value exceeding one trillion yuan, while Hamilton is an important agricultural technology center in New Zealand. Both sides have their own strengths and can complement each other's advantages. The Consulate-General is willing to continue to play the role of a bridge and link to promote in-depth and practical cooperation between the two countries' local governments.

The Conference is a supporting event of New Zealand Agricultural Fieldays 2026. The Shandong agricultural delegation provided a detailed introduction to the province's advantages in modern, efficient agriculture, agricultural product processing, and agricultural machinery. Entrepreneurs from both countries engaged in in-depth discussions on resource complementarity, industrial collaboration and market expansion.
