Precautionary Boil Advisory for High Drive SE, Pine Avenue SE, and Riverview Street SE

The City of Cedar Rapids is issuing a Precautionary Boil Advisory to customers within the boundary listed below to boil water used for personal consumption. If you are pregnant, nursing, or have infants under 6 months of age, the City recommends the use of bottled water only.

Affected Addresses are within the High Drive SE, Pine Avenue SE, and Riverview Street SE area. A rupture in a water main caused a loss of pressure, which has created a potential for bacteria contamination to occur.

Affected addresses:

  • High Drive SE: 2150, 2126, 2123, 2120, 2117, 2112, 2106, 2095, 2087, 2086, 2082, 2076, 2075, 2065, 2036, 2045, 2020, 2015, 2010, 2002
  • Pine Avenue SE: 2204, 2212, 2224, 2232, and 2209
  • Riverview Street SE: 2089, 2075, 2066, 2040, 2035, 2029, 2023, 2017, 2011, 2005
  • 2230 Otis Drive SE

An updated map outlining the area is available below.

We advise residents in the affected area to follow these steps for added protection against potential bacteria contamination:

  1. Bring water to a boil,
  2. Let it rapidly boil for at least 1 minute,
  3. Allow to cool completely before consuming.
  4. Use only bottled water if you are pregnant, nursing, or preparing formula for infants.

WATER IN ALL OTHER AREAS IS SAFE TO CONSUME.

Repairs to the system have begun. The area of the break has been repaired and flushed; water is back on. Chlorine levels will be monitored and two consecutive sets of bacteria samples will be collected for analysis. The final results should be available Thursday, January 15 at which time this order will be either lifted or extended.

Please check the City website at https://www.CityofCR.com for up-to-date notifications or call the Water Department at 319-286-5910. Sign up for text alerts at https://www.CRNewsNow.com

The water division is an Advisory and is PRECAUTIONARY only, limited to the addresses listed above.
