DWU to present two fall concerts; other events upcoming

The DWU Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Music will perform two Fall Homecoming Music Concerts on Sundays, Oct. 19 and 26.

MITCHELL-The Dakota Wesleyan Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Music will perform two Fall Homecoming Music Concerts, an instrumental performance on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m., and a vocal concert on Sunday, Oct. 26, both in the Sherman Center.

The instrumental concert is entitled "Celebration." Performances will feature LyricWood Orchestra, Wesleyan Band and Wesleyan Jazz Band.

The vocal concert is entitled "Roarin' Thru the Decades." Performances will feature the Dakota Wesleyan Choir, The Highlanders and Wesleyan Bells.

Admission is free to both performances.

Coming up later this semester, the Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Theatre will present "The Trail to Oregon: A Gen Y, Gen Z Musical." Performances will be held Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 7-8 and 14-15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, Nov. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre inside the Dakota Discovery Museum. This show is recommended for mature audiences due to language and content.

On Sunday, Nov. 9, Instructor of Instrumental Music Jason T. Laczkoski will perform a faculty recital at 4 p.m. in Sherman Center. The saxophonist has put together a program of "Simply Sonatas." Admission is free.

Finally, the Christmas at Dakota Wesleyan concert will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., in Sherman Center. Tickets will go on sale later this semester.
