Apply Today for City's 2026 Neighborhood Awards

Virtual Workshop Scheduled for Aug. 10 to Assist Applicants

Do you live within the Tallahassee City limits? Are you super-excited about a neighborhood project that piqued the interest and enthusiasm of more than half the households in your subdivision and had an amazing outcome? Perhaps your neighborhood has a great monthly newsletter or a committee that caters to elderly neighbors. Tell us about it! The City of Tallahassee's 2026 Neighborhood Awards Program is open for entries.

The Neighborhood Awards program showcases the positive impact of neighborhood involvement in enriching Tallahassee and empowering residents. This year's theme is "Celebrating Neighborhood Champions: Honoring Excellence, Leadership, and Impact." The application deadline is Aug. 28.

Neighbors and neighborhoods will be recognized in the following categories:

Outstanding Neighbor of the Year

• Neighborhood Advocacy
• Neighborliness

Neighborhood of the Year

• Small Neighborhood (under 200 homes)
• Large Neighborhood (200-plus homes)

Best Neighborhood Programs of the Year

• Best Physical Neighborhood Improvement
• Best Social Neighborhood Improvement
• Best Neighborhood Communication

Recipients of the Neighborhood of the Year awards will receive award signs to display. Previous winners will receive a sign blade that will be affixed to their existing Neighborhood of the Year sign. For the 2026 awards program, a cash prize of $500 will be provided to winners of Neighborhood of the Year to fund a neighborhood program or project. Recipients of Outstanding Neighbor of the Year and Best Neighborhood Programs awards will receive plaques.

Neighborhoods located within the City limits are encouraged to apply. This year, two versions of the application are available: one is fillable using a computer and one can be printed and filled out manually. If you have questions, please contact the City's Neighborhood Affairs division at 850-891-8795. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.

To assist applicants in completing their applications, the City will host a virtual application workshop via Teams on Monday, Aug. 10, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Neighborhoods that are planning to submit a nomination are encouraged, but not required, to attend the workshop.
