On 7 July 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, paid a visit to the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM) at Camp H.M. Smith and met with Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, USPACOM Commander.
USPACOM Commander welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in an Honors Ceremony, where the Thai and U.S. national anthems were played, followed by the introduction of participating Thai and USPACOM high-level officials, including H.E. Dr. Suriya Chindawongse, Ambassador of Thailand to the United States; General Nothapol Boonngam, Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister; Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs; and Mr. Tor Saralamba, Consul-General of Thailand in Los Angeles.
During their discussion, USPACOM Commander welcomed the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to USPACOM, recognizing that the meeting was meaningful for the longstanding Thailand - U.S. alliance and reaffirming both countries' commitment to strengthening cooperation amid the evolving international security landscape, including emerging challenges such as cyber and cognitive warfare.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his appreciation to USPACOM Commander for the warm welcome. He underscored the importance of elevating the Thailand - U.S. alliance to make it more relevant in the rapidly evolving geopolitical, geoeconomic, and geotechnological landscape, in order to address emerging security challenges, with a view to promoting shared interests in regional peace and security.
Both sides exchanged views on regional and global security developments and discussed ways to enhance their defence and security cooperation, especially in capacity building, modernization, defence industrial base cooperation, and combating emerging security threats, particularly online scams.
