Community Survey to Help Shape the Future of Fire and Emergency Services in Modesto

The Modesto Fire Department (MFD) is calling upon the people it serves to help shape the future of fire services. The MFD is developing a new Strategic Plan that will guide their direction over the coming years. A survey has been published to help gather feedback that will help develop the new strategy. This community feedback will directly shape the MFD's operations and how they serve you.

The MFD operates under two types of contracts, Full-Service Contracts, and Administrative-Only Contracts. Agencies under Full-Service contracts are managed and employed by the City of Modesto. While Administrative-Only contracts only provide MFD oversight, with agency specific employment.

The survey is available to all those the MFD serves, which is not limited to the residents of Modesto. Through these agreements, the MFD serves the City of Modesto, Ceres, and Oakdale. They also serve Valley Home, Knights Ferry, Salida, Wood Colony, Del Rio, Turlock, Riverbank, Waterford, La Grange, and Empire. Residents of these areas are welcome to take part in the MFD survey and help shape the future of all MFD Services.

These services are not limited to fighting fires. They respond to medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, water rescues, technical issues, and traffic accidents. The strategic plan will help improve response times to these emergencies. It will also help the MFD improve disaster preparedness and plan future stations, equipment, and staffing. Along with the survey's feedback, the new strategic plan will strengthen community engagement.

The purpose of the new strategic plan is to reflect the communities that the MFD serves. The MFD is relying on residents, business owners, and community members to take the survey. Doing so will directly shape the operations of the MFD and how it serves the community. The survey is anonymous and only takes about 5-10 minutes to complete.
