Help shape how TMU uses generative AI in the classroom and beyond

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) is embracing the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence (AI) with a commitment to responsible innovation, integrity, equity and inclusion.

The Leadership Task Force on Generative AI is engaging the TMU community to gather diverse perspectives, identify risks and key challenges, and explore opportunities related to AI.

Have your voice heard

The university is dedicated to incorporating generative AI responsibly and ethically, in a way that supports learning, accelerates discovery, expands creative expression and improves operational efficiency.

Faculty, contract lecturers, librarians, staff and students are invited to share their feedback and help shape how TMU uses AI to learn, create and work.

"We're committed to following a human-centred approach when evaluating these new opportunities, with equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility at the forefront of our decision-making," says Sean Kheraj, vice-provost, Academic and co-chair of the Leadership Task Force on Generative AI.

"The task force's efforts are part of a broader commitment to preparing our community for a future where AI is deeply integrated into academic, professional and civic life," he continued.

The following in-person town hall sessions have been scheduled for the TMU community to share their feedback and gain a better understanding of the current and future uses, opportunities and challenges of AI:

All community members are encouraged to attend a session and bring forward any ideas, questions or concerns to help guide the thoughtful and strategic adoption of AI across the university.

Virtual town hall sessions will also be offered to ensure community members who are off-campus, have accessibility needs or are unable to attend in-person sessions can still contribute. Stay tuned for additional information and to register.

Your participation is critical to shaping the use of generative AI in teaching and learning to enhance pedagogy, creativity and student success, strengthen SRC activities, and improve the efficiency of university operations. Registration is required.

Online survey

In addition to these town hall sessions, the task force invites the community to (google form) complete an online survey (external link) on community perceptions, preparedness and concerns related to AI. Data collected from the survey will provide metrics to complement the qualitative feedback received from the town hall sessions.

The (google form) survey (external link) takes 10-15 minutes to complete and will remain open until March 31, 2026.
