National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members, today announced its endorsement of Mai Vang for California's 7th Congressional District. Nurses are ready to elect leaders like Mai Vang who are prepared to protect our immigrant neighbors and fight back against the gutting of our health care programs and fight for our right to organize and collectively bargain.

"During her time as a Sacramento city councilmember, Mai was on the front lines during the Covid-19 pandemic, fighting to ensure safety and care for her constituents," said NNU President Mary Turner, RN. "Mai is ready to take on corporate interests in Congress to ensure a better future for our patients. We look forward to working with Mai to guarantee health care for everyone and secure strong protections for immigrant families and all working people."

"It means the world to have the support of the folks at the frontlines of providing care to our loved ones," said Mai Vang. "For too long, the status quo in Washington has protected insurance company profits while patients suffer and nurses are stretched to the breaking point. NNU and I are aligned in our fight to finally put patients before profits."

NNU supports candidates who are committed to nurses' values, including safe patient staffing in all hospitals across the country, protecting the rights of workers to organize, and guaranteeing health care to everyone. In a recent Gallup poll, nurses were voted the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th consecutive year. NNU looks forward to helping elect Mai Vang and working closely with her in Congress on the important issues that affect registered nurses, our patients, and our communities.
