On 17 September 2026, the Eurasian Economic Union Days were held at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Beijing.

The programme of events included an opening ceremony, a roundtable, a photo exhibition and a signing ceremony for the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the SCO Secretariat and the Eurasian Economic Commission. The event was attended by representatives of 30 states - embassies of the EAEU and SCO member states and the diplomatic corps.

The EAEU Days were officially opened by SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

In his remarks, the Secretary-General stated that the SCO and the EAEU are bound together by geographical proximity and partially overlapping membership, a shared aspiration to expand mutual trade, develop transport connectivity, industrial cooperation and investment ties, and an interest in building a multilateral architecture for sustainable development. Nurlan Yermekbayev noted the symbolism of holding the EAEU Days at the SCO Secretariat on the fifth anniversary of the signing of the MoU between the executive bodies of the two organizations.

During the roundtable, dedicated to the theme "EAEU-SCO: Activating Economic Cooperation," a thorough exchange of views took place on the current state and prospects for substantively scaling up interaction between the two associations. The roundtable was addressed by the SCO Secretary-General, the Chairman of the EEC Board, the Ambassadors of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Venezuela to China, the leadership of the Eurasia Department of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the Permanent Representatives of Belarus, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to the SCO Secretariat, senior diplomats from the Embassies of India and Pakistan, as well as representatives of the leadership of the China Institute of International Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC and Far Eastern Federal University (Russia).

As part of the EAEU Days, a signing ceremony was held for the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the SCO Secretariat and the Eurasian Economic Commission. The document provides for a number of joint events involving the SCO and EAEU business councils in the fields of agro-industry, food security and customs regulation, as well as the exchange of information on the development of the green economy, digitalization and information and communication technologies.

On the sidelines of the EAEU Days, a bilateral meeting was held between SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev and Chairman of the EEC Board Bakytzhan Sagintayev, during which they exchanged views on upcoming joint steps to implement the provisions of the signed Action Plan. A meeting was also organized between the Chairman of the EEC Board and the Ambassadors of the EAEU member states to China.

A photo exhibition entitled "EAEU Countries: Landmarks and Natural Landscapes" was arranged for guests of the SCO Secretariat. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission was signed on 17 September 2021 in Dushanbe on the sidelines of the SCO 20th anniversary summit.
