WASHINGTON-Capt. Jason Ambrosi, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l (ALPA), issued the following statement today after Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) were selected as Chair and Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, respectively:
"We congratulate Senators Cruz and Cantwell for once again being selected to lead this vital committee that shapes America's aviation policy, oversees the Federal Aviation Administration, and ensures the safety and efficiency of our nation's air transportation system.
"Aviation safety and the strength of our national air transportation system depend on robust congressional oversight and bipartisan cooperation. We look forward to working with both Senators to advance policies that enhance aviation safety, support our professional workforce, and maintain America's global leadership in commercial aviation.
"As always, ALPA stands ready to serve as a technical resource to the Committee as it addresses critical issues including emerging technologies and infrastructure modernization.
