The West Jordan Police Department is proud to work alongside dedicated community members through its Volunteers in Public Service (VIPS) program. VIPS volunteers play an important role by assisting with tasks that do not require sworn police authority, allowing officers to focus on core public safety responsibilities.
VIPS participants help in many ways throughout the department. Their work includes neighborhood patrols and vacation watch programs, providing public assistance at city events, leading department tours, assisting with fleet vehicle maintenance, and helping maintain and deploy speed-monitoring trailers. Volunteers also support the animal shelter and assist the department's Training Division.
To ensure volunteers are well prepared, the Police Department provides regular training and holds monthly meetings to keep VIPS members up to date on department operations and changes. Through this program, volunteers build strong relationships with police officers while helping enhance the quality of life in West Jordan.
Residents interested in learning more about the Volunteers in Public Service program can contact Gary Cox, Executive Officer, at 801-256-2060 or by email at [email protected].
