Commissioner King Announces New Wave of Savings for Georgia Drivers

ATLANTA - Today, Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced additional insurance savings for Liberty Mutual and Safeco customers in Georgia following major rate reductions for both companies.

"These reductions are the latest addition in a developing trend of major insurance savings for Georgia families, showcasing the state's growing and competitive industry," said Commissioner King. "As we continue the OCI mission to build a fair and affordable insurance marketplace, I am confident that we will see rates further decline across Georgia."

The latest reductions reflect consumer-centric regulatory and legislative accomplishments championed by Commissioner King. The following rate filings have been negotiated and approved by the OCI:

Safeco Insurance Company of Illinois: - 5.1%

Safeco Insurance Company of Indiana: -4.9%

Liberty Mutual Personal Insurance Company: -5.7%

These changes deliver meaningful savings for drivers across the state, reflecting continued investment by these companies in Georgia's insurance market and an expansion of competitive options for consumers..

"Today's outcome is another clear example of what strong collaboration among Governor Kemp, Lieutenant Governor Jones, Speaker Burns, the General Assembly, and our office can deliver for Georgia consumers. We remain focused on strengthening stability, transparency, and affordability across the entire insurance landscape," said Commissioner King.

Savings arrive as the Insurance Commissioner's office intensifies its statewide efforts to combat insurance fraud and abuse. At the same time, early results from the lawsuit abuse reforms championed by Commissioner King in the 2025 legislative session are starting to take hold, helping stabilize the market and improve long-term affordability for Georgia consumers.
