CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY AT THE STREETS OF BRENTWOOD AMID CITYWIDE RETAIL EXPANSION

BRENTWOOD, CA -On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Los Angeles based CenterCal Properties hosted an event officially commencing construction on the much-anticipated revitalization of The Streets of Brentwood, marking a major milestone in the transformation of the City's premier lifestyle center. CenterCal purchased the center in October 2024. This west coast developer and shopping center owner, also owns the Veranda in Concord, Bay Street in Emeryville, and several other lifestyle centers along the west coast. This developer specializes in the investment, development, leasing and management of high-quality retail and mixed-use development and transforming centers like the Streets of Brentwood into family-friendly entertainment and exciting venues for the public to enjoy.

The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by City leadership, project partners, and community stakeholders, celebrated the launch of a multi-phase project that will reimagine the heart of Brentwood's retail and entertainment district. The improvements will include new landscaping including shade trees, new buildings, restaurants, outdoor seating and a host of exciting amenities for the entire family to enjoy.

Darin Gale, Interim City Manager for the City of Brentwood shared the following as it relates to CenterCal's investments to the center, "The City of Brentwood is excited to partner with CenterCal on the exciting improvements underway at the Streets. The City's Community Development Department (Planning and Building Divisions) led in the review and processing of permits in a timely manner. In addition, our Police Department and Economic Development Division have worked closely with CenterCal's management team to ensure patrons of the center continue to experience a safe and friendly shopping experience as new retailers like Barnes & Noble, Mochinut and other shops continue to open".

While the renovations at The Streets of Brentwood mark a major milestone for Brentwood and the broader East Contra Costa community, there are several other exciting retail and commercial developments underway across the area:

  • Costco: Opened in March just south of Lone Tree Plaza, this location is quickly becoming one of the highest-grossing stores in Northern California.
  • Brentwood Ice Cream: A locally inspired ice cream parlor featuring fresh, regionally grown ingredients recently opened next to Trader Joe's at Lone Tree Plaza.
  • Dutch Bros: Two new locations are slated to open later this year-one at The Streets of Brentwood in front of Sprouts and another at Lone Tree Crossings.
  • Namaste Indian Grocery: A new Indian grocery store and restaurant is expected to open later this year at Lone Tree Plaza, expanding international food options for local residents.
  • Family Dollar Retail Center: Recently sold, the center's new ownership plans to renovate and revitalize the site in the coming months. La Quinta Hotel: A new hotel is projected to break ground in 2026 at The Streets of Brentwood, adding to the city's hospitality offerings.

Brentwood's Economic Development Manager Ricardo Noguera, added "Brentwood is the premiere shopping venue along the Highway 4 Corridor. With more than 400,000 residents within a 15-mile radius and thousands of new homes under construction and in the planning stages, our team will continue to pursue the types of retailers and restaurants which our residents seek in order to keep them shopping local. Stay tuned for more in this exciting market"!
