Heinrich Welcomes New Manufacturing Facility Creating 340 Permanent Jobs in Santa Teresa

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) welcomes GreenPower Motor Company Inc.'s announcement to locate an electric heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing plant in Santa Teresa, which will create 340 permanent jobs for New Mexicans. GreenPower's move will have an estimated $200 million impact for the state.

"This is a big win for New Mexico," said Heinrich. "After hosting a congressional briefing with GreenPower on strengthening domestic EV supply chains, it was clear that building these electric heavy-duty vehicles in America means creating high-quality jobs and staying competitive in the race for the future of transportation. I'm proud that this partnership helped bring GreenPower's manufacturing, servicing and operations to New Mexico - creating 340 permanent jobs in Santa Teresa and delivering cleaner air for our kids."

Last year, Heinrich hosted a congressional briefing with GreenPower Motor Company on developments in manufacturing electric vehicles and their supply chains in the United States.

In 2022, Heinrich helped author and pass into law the landmark Inflation Reduction Act, which created a manufacturing renaissance in New Mexico and positioned the state at the center of the nation's clean energy future.
