The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to perform minor pavement rehabilitation on I-84 in Manchester.
The project involves partial and full depth patching to repair concrete pavement along I-84 in both the eastbound and westbound directions as well as the adjacent HOV lanes, mainline access ramps and ramps between I-291 and I-384 in the Town of Manchester. Short-term off-peak detour routes will be implemented should ramps need to be closed for construction activities.
The project limits begin at Mile Point 67.55, starting near the eastern end of Bridge No. 05580 which carries I-84 over the Hockanum River, and extends to Mile Point 70.78 near the western end of Bridge Nos. 05444 (eastbound) and 05443 (westbound), which carry I-84 over Slater Street. The project limits correspond to the termini of the existing concrete pavement.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in March of 2027, with construction anticipated to start in the fall of 2027, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding, and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with one hundred percent (100%) State funds.
It is CTDOT's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community shares its concerns with the CTDOT to assist in the project's development. If anyone has any questions or comments on this project, please contact Sebastian A. Cannamela, Principal Engineer, at (860) 594-2698 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Please refer to State Project No. 0076-0231.
