City of Pompano Beach Celebrates the Arrival of World-Class Jellyfish Museum
The City of Pompano Beach and its Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) are thrilled to announce the upcoming grand opening of the Jellyfish Museum, a premier marine attraction set to debut in mid-April 2026. The almost 10,000-square-foot facility, featuring over 6,000 square feet of dedicated exhibition space, is the only one of its kind in the United States and offers an immersive environment that blends science, art, and storytelling. The museum is located at 199 N Ocean Boulevard. Visitors will enjoy a meditative escape into the world of one of nature's most ancient and fascinating creatures. A Grand Opening is scheduled for March 27th at 11:00 a.m., with the museum opening to the public the same day at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are required.
"This museum is a shining example of how Pompano Beach is evolving into a premier destination for unique cultural and educational experiences," said Mayor Rex Hardin. "By bringing such a specialized, world-class attraction to our City, we are not only enhancing our local economy but also providing a landmark that reflects our deep connection to the ocean and our commitment to vibrant, family-friendly growth."
Founders Alex and Yana Yanovsky, who have previously developed successful aquariums and a jellyfish museum in Europe, expressed their gratitude for the local collaboration that made this project possible. "The support we received from the City of Pompano Beach and the CRA has been instrumental in establishing our business here," the Yanovskys stated. "Their guidance and resources allowed us to transform our vision into a reality, and we are excited to contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of this beautiful coastal City."
The Jellyfish Museum will showcase approximately 21 species of jellyfish, highlighting their various life stages in custom-designed tanks tailored to each species' biological requirements. Visitors will learn about the ancient biology of these animals, which have thrived for over 500 million years. All jellyfish are sourced through licensed aquaculture partners who specialize in sustainable breeding and responsible marine life support systems.
During their first aquarium project, the couple noticed that visitors were consistently drawn to a single jellyfish exhibit - spending far more time there than anywhere else. That moment sparked the idea to create an entire museum dedicated exclusively to jellyfish.
"Seeing how deeply people connected with the jellyfish inspired us to develop a refined, education-driven concept and bring that experience to South Florida, a region so closely tied to the ocean," stated Yana. "Jellyfish are some of the most resilient creatures on Earth. While they lack a brain, they maintain a simple nerve net that allows them to respond to their environment. Their movement is mesmerizing, almost meditative, and they play an important role in marine ecosystems."
This role in the ecosystem will be a primary focus of the museum, alongside ocean conservation and sustainability. The experience is designed to be both educational and calming, using the jellyfish's hypnotic movement to engage guests. For those seeking a deeper dive into the science, the museum will offer guided tours led by trained educators, offering interactive insights and engaging walkthroughs of the exhibits.
Members of the public are encouraged to secure their spots early to be among the first to experience this ethereal new addition to South Florida. Learn more at https://www.jellyfish-museum.com
